The students, mentors, and machines behind FRC Team 9450.
WELCOME!
We are FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) Team 9450, the Velocity Raptors. We build robots that compete at a world‑class level and dedicate over 1,000 hours each year to outreach in our community. Our team brings strong technical skill and a distinct sense of identity to every season, both in the shop and at competition.
We help students develop the technical and interpersonal skills needed for real careers. Our program teaches FIRST values like Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition while strengthening teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving. The result is a program that prepares students to succeed in any path they choose.
One thing that makes our team feel different is our creative identity. We lean into bold visuals, hand-built displays, and graffiti-inspired artwork that make our robot, pit, and outreach presence feel unmistakably like the Velocity Raptors.
BY THE NUMBERS
TEAM HISTORY
Our FRC journey started in the 2024 Crescendo season as rookies, qualifying for PNW districts and then the World Championships with the Rookie All-Star award.
In the 2025 Reefscape season, we had immense success, placing 30th in the world out of 3,700 teams in the World Championship. The highlight was our Week 3 competition, Sundome in Yakima WA, where we had the only perfect event in the PNW - winning every match and the entire competition. We also earned the Impact Award, the most prestigious award in FIRST. No second‑year team has done that in recent history.
We also attend a variety of offseason events, one of which was the highly prestigious Chezy Champs, a two‑day offseason competition in California.
For the Rebuilt, 2026 season the team placed 3rd in playoffs, and won the Creativity Award At Bonney Lake. At the Sundome event, we captained the 4th team alliance and were runners up in the finals. The team also picked up the Excellence in Engineering Award and qualified for the PNW District Championships. At Districts, the team qualified for the World Championships for the 3rd year in a row.
While the robot wasn't quite as dominant as the prior year, our Impact team shined. They brought home the Sustainability Award, which recognizes a team's efforts to improve its long‑term strength and environmental consciousness.
